Diego Milito, our Sony Team Ambassador for Argentina, believes the controversial £75million signing of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could help the Catalan giants back to the top of La Liga.
I don’t have any doubts that Luis Suarez will adapt extraordinarily well at Barcelona. We’re talking about an incredible striker who has been proving his skills in the best leagues in the world and in the past two World Cups.
Both in South Africa 2010 and Brazil this summer he played great. It’s a shame that he was lost to the round of 16 match for biting, and that he left the World Cup in that way, with that image.
Can he play together with Messi? Great players will always adapt to any club. It doesn’t matter about their style. I don’t think Suarez will have any trouble in adapting, to help them recover the titles they lost last season.
If they want to go on the winning road, it’s time for them to have a classic centre forward as an alternative to their other strikers. That was one of the players Barcelona didn’t have and the new coach Luis Enrique probably asked for someone like him, as a way to change their tactics.
Unfortunately, Barcelona won’t be able to present Suarez to their crowd so they can start seeing him, enjoying him, due to this exaggerated sanction that FIFA gave him after biting Giorgio Chiellini.
I think he deserved a sanction, but not that big. Four months is too much. It’s especially unfair that he can’t even go and watch a football game. He does still have the consolation of signing for Barcelona though – and to know that he will be playing with the best of them all. Luis will soon recover his smile.
