Sudarsono plans to improve Harimau Malaya ranking

The new manager for the national team, Datu Sudarsono Osman, believes that the clash against Tajikistan will be a good chance for Dollah Salleh and his players to improve the national team’s ranking in the FIFA ranking list.

After recently moving up two spots in the rankings, despite not playing too many class A matches, Sudarsono believes that the national team must take every game seriously.
According to Harian Metro, Sudarsono said “The national team has two main objectives, which is to improve our ranking, as well as winning every competition we enter, like the AFF Cup. Even though friendly matches are the place for (the) coach to test the players, we must also take it seriously because if we lose, we may drop in the ranking.”
With those objectives, Sudarsono clearly demonstrates his intention of improving Malaysia's position in the rankings, but he admitted it will be tough for Dollah Salleh to get a win as he has only had a very limited time to prepare for the match.
“All players will gather on the 1st of August, and (have) only four days of training before departing to Tajikistan. We have to call some of the senior players for this match and I hope we can get a good result,” he added.
The last time Harimau Malaya played they drew 0-0 with Philippines last April, and they also drew with the same opponent in March. In February, Malaysia defeated Yemen 2-1 in Asia Cup qualification.
