Super Falcons to know AWC opponents on July 19

Nigeria's senior women's national team, the Super Falcons will know their group opponents for the next CAF African Women's Championship on July 19 when the draws are made in Windhoek, Namibia.


The country's representatives cruised to their eighth consecutive appearance at the AWC after their 12-1 aggregate win over the She-Amavubu of Rwanda in the final round of qualifiers.

The tournament matches which will be played in two venues of Independence Stadium and Sam Nujoma Stadium both located in Windhoek, will host the eight nations that will participate in the competition that starts on October 11-25, 2014.

The Super Falcons are the most successful team with six titles, far ahead of closest rivals Equatorial Guinea who have two titles.

The final draw will take place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort on Saturday. 

The draw will get underway by 19h00 local time (17h00 GMT) with representatives of the eight participating nations in attendance.
 
Hosts Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire and Zambia will be divided into two round-robin groups, where the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-final.
   
The final three teams at the continental football event will automatically qualify to the finals of the 2015 FIFA Women's World due to be held in Canada.
