How I fixed matches – Raj Perumal

Football is more than just a game, it is a business that many, like renowned match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal, exploit to make big bucks.

Following his arrest and conviction of football-related crimes, Perumal came clean of his former life, which he claims helped him make around $5 million. However, he lost it all gambling. He is now helping European police combat match fixing and has written an autobiography titled "Kelong Kings".

Perumal, who spoke to CNN in an exclusive interview with Don Riddell , made some shocking revelations about his former trade. Growing up his dream was to serve his country as a soldier but a criminal record meant he could not fulfill that ambition.

"I had my boyhood dreams. I wanted to be a soldier but during my school days I got a criminal record and couldn't really pursue what I wanted to. Then I got attracted to betting when I was about 19 or 20 years old," he told CNN.

"I was on the bench at times and telling players what to do, giving orders to the coach. It was that easy. There was no policing whatsoever," added Perumal.
