Sanna Nyassi moves to the Chicago Fire adding offensive help

Chicago Fire made a move that could help their team after recent struggles to get on their feetwith a trade with the Montreal Impact that brings midfielder Sanna Nyassi over for Dilly Duka.

What this will bring to the Fire is some added attacking impetus to a struggling offense.

"Sanna (Nyassi) is a versatile, attack-minded player who will provide depth and strengthen our squad as we embark on the second half of the season," said Chicago Fire head coach Frank Yallop on Tuesday.

"I would like to thank Dilly (Duka) for his time in Chicago and wish him well as he heads to Montreal."

Nyassi's past experience includes being the Impact's eighth pick in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft from the Colorado Rapids. He had scored eight goals and added four assists in 54 regular season matches and helped the Impact to back-to-back Amway Canadian Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Nyassi made his professional debut in Ports Authority FC in 2004. In 2006, he won the League 1 Championship and had scored the game-winning goal in the 2007 Gambian FA Cup.

Nyassi signed with the Seattle Sounders FC in 2008 and was loaned to the Sounders of USL PRO for the rest of the 2008 season. In 2009, he played in 14 regular season games for the Sounders and scored one goal in the US Open Cup. In 2010, Nyassi scored two goals and three assists in 24 regular season matches. He also scored twice as the Sounders defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 and repeated as US Open Cup champions.

The 25-year old was with the Rapids in 2011 and tallied five goals and five assists in 26 regular season matches.

He also made his international debut with the Gambian national team in 2010 and has earned six caps. Recently, he played two games in 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Morocco.
